1. Delete In The App
If you are a company admin, you can delete your account yourself:
- Open the AltScrap app and sign in.
- Tap the Settings tab.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account.
- Enter your password and tap Delete account again to confirm.
The deletion happens straight away and you are signed out. If you are the only admin for your company, this also closes the company: no new sales can be recorded, the admin console is shut and any subscription is cancelled.
2. Request Deletion By Email
If you no longer have the app, can't sign in, are a staff member without the Delete account option, or want other personal information deleted, email support@altscrap.com with the subject “Account deletion request”. Include:
- the email address or phone number on the account;
- the yard or company name the account belongs to;
- what you want deleted: your login, or other personal information we hold about you.
We will confirm the request comes from the account holder before deleting anything. We aim to complete requests within 30 days and will email you when it is done.
Customers and suppliers who sell to a yard don't have an AltScrap login. Their details are held by that yard. You can ask the yard directly, or email us and we will work with the yard to respond.
3. What Is Deleted
- your login: email address, password and sign-in access;
- your name and contact details on your staff profile.
If you have never recorded any activity, your login is removed completely. If you have, your profile is anonymised instead: your name and email are erased, the profile is switched off and nobody can sign in with it again.
4. What Is Kept, And For How Long
Some business records must be kept by law after an account is deleted. These include sales, receipts, RCTI records, payouts and the audit records attached to them. They stay with the yard's records but no longer show your name or email.
These records are kept for as long as Australian tax, scrap-metal dealer and other record-keeping laws require, generally at least five years. They are then deleted or archived. Backup copies may stay for a limited time after that until they are overwritten. See section 10 of our Privacy Policy for more about retention.
